Stuart Zender is best known as the original bassist for acclaimed British funk band Jamiroquai. After his departure from the band, Stuart and friend Don-E formed AZUR (pronounced ‘Az U R’). The project was to showcase the groups writing skills and Stu’s own producing talents on the Virgin Records label but was eventually shelved. Most D’Angelo FANatics have heard the smooth sounds of “Love is Cold” one of their stand out cuts which features D on keys, but the entire album is pretty dope IMO.

With her debut solo release, Infinite Possibilities, Amel Larrieux helped solidify the burgeoning “neo-soul” movement as a true alternative to the cookie cutter hip hop-soul that was cluttering the airwaves in early 2000. This song always stuck out because it’s one of those uplifting joints that isn’t too preachy. A definite feel good record.
